Bucket backup
Cheap bucket backup, even with millions of files
What makes bucket backup expensive is almost never the volume. It's the operations: every file copied is a billed write, and millions of small files become millions of charges. NubliVault solves it at the source — it groups files into a few packages before sending them and keeps an immutable copy in a long-term vault on AWS.

Why bucket backup gets expensive
Clouds charge per gigabyte stored and per operation. For a backup of a few large files, operations don't matter. For a bucket with millions of small files — photos, documents, attachments, logs — they dominate the bill: copying object by object pays one write per file, every month, and keeping the copy in the same hot storage as the source pays the highest price per gigabyte.
That's why the same 60 TB account can cost little or a lot: it depends on how many files there are and where the copy lives.
How NubliVault cuts the cost
Three decisions, each one going after a part of the bill:
- Packing: Nublify's own engine groups millions of files into a few compressed packages. Instead of one write per file, one per package — up to 99.98% fewer billed operations.
- Long-term vault on AWS: packages go to AWS's most economical tier, in your own account, with a retention lock (Object Lock). Nobody deletes before the deadline, not even with the password.
- Searchable index: every file stays findable inside its package. You recover a single file without downloading the whole package.
What has been measured
In the lab: a job of 510,000 files became 16 packages with zero failures, and the product's database didn't gain a single row during the load. A full recovery of 30,000 files took 2 minutes 20 seconds, and the disaster drill returned files identical to the original, bit for bit.
Nublify lab measurements, with synthetic files of similar size (~150 KB). Real data will vary.
Works with what you already have
NubliVault runs on a Linux machine with Docker inside your cloud and reads the buckets you already use. It doesn't replace your current backup — it keeps a second copy outside the source cloud.
- Multi-cloud source: OCI, AWS, GCP and Azure.
- Permission granted bucket by bucket, by name. On OCI, authentication by Instance Principal, with no key on disk.
- Each customer's packages never mix — the database physically rejects it. Built for MSPs and providers.
- No lock-in: packages stay in your AWS account in an open format, with an index readable on its own.
How much it costs
Usage-based: US$ 2 per TB stored per month, plus US$ 8 per TB moved. AWS storage is billed separately, in your account — or on the same invoice, if Nublify supplies it as an authorized AWS reseller. The trial is free for 14 days, up to 1 TB, no credit card.

FAQ
- Do I need to replace my current backup?
- No. NubliVault reads the bucket where your backup already lives and keeps a second immutable copy outside the source cloud. It can replace or complement, with no migration.
- Does it work with OCI, GCP or Azure buckets?
- Yes. The source can be OCI, AWS, GCP or Azure. The copy's destination is a long-term vault on AWS, in your account.
- Can I recover a single file?
- Yes. The index finds the file inside the package and only that portion is read. You don't download the whole package.
- Is the backup protected against ransomware?
- Yes. The copy is written with a retention lock (Object Lock, in governance or compliance mode): nobody deletes before the deadline, not even with the administrator password. Default retention is 7 years.
- Am I locked in to Nublify?
- No. Packages stay in your AWS account, in an open format, with an index readable on its own.
